The Seafarer Collective - Croisiere sur la Seine pour visiter Paris

The Seafarer Collective is a program of the non-profit maritime organization,
Grays Harbor Historical Seaport. The Seafarer Collective's mission is to provide accessible learning platforms, career mentorship, and crew volunteer opportunities to aspiring mariners.

TSC offerings include a broad range of self-paced online courses,
community industry panels, vessel open houses,
mariner mentorships, volunteer crew placement,
and USCG licensing support.
TSC offers scholarships, grants, and free community

events to support equal access to

TSC resources.

Depending on interest and experience, TSC students join one of three self-paced online course paths to increase their knowledge and understanding of the maritime industry:

1) The Entry-Level Merchant Mariner
2) The Able Bodied Seaman
3) The Recreational Marlinspike

Each course is uniquely designed to prepare students for volunteer crewing opportunities onboard a variety of vessels. At the conclusion of their coursework, many SC students will apply to the National Maritime Center to receive an entry-level Merchant Mariner Credential or Able Bodied Seaman Endorsement.

THE SEAFARER COLLECTIVE EQUITY STATEMENT
We believe that equity and diversity are essential to a thriving, modern maritime workforce. In order to fulfill our mission to change the face of the maritime industry, we must take into account our society’s inequalities, including those based on race, class, gender, sexuality, ability, and geography.

Whether you are interested in commercial tugboats, cruise ships, traditional tall ships, or are just considering your options in the maritime industry, TSC is here to guide you as you navigate your first steps in exploring what it means to be a mariner.

Through the direct support of women, people of color, LGBTQ+ people, registered tribal members and the coastal residents of the waters that we impact, we will continue to break barriers and create opportunities that challenge the status quo.

Cruising Down The Seine River In Paris

When you travel to a new city, after a while your feet are tired and you just want to see the sites in a more relaxing way. Cruising down the Seine River in Paris provides you with the perfect opportunity where you can see so many famous sites all at once. Half the city is on the north side of the river and the other half is on the south side.

Cruising on the Seine River, Paris France

There are numerous companies which provide boat excursions along the Seine. Some last a few hours and have recorded commentary and some provide lunch and dinner cruises. Some pick you up and return you to the same dock and others allow you to hop on and off. You can sit on the top deck (exposed to the elements) or inside. Your choice will obviously depend on the weather.

I have done a variety of boat tours in Paris and my suggestion for a first-timer would be to do the cruise in the daytime so you can really see all the sites, including Notre Dame, La Conciergerie, the Musée d’Orsay, and the Eiffel Tower. Some cruise lines include:

Sightseeing and Lunch/Dinner Cruises
Cruising: Bateaux Mouches
Bateaux Mouches, Paris France
Diner croisiere Paris

The following three provide sightseeing cruises lasting about 1 hour (13.5-15 Euros) as well as lunchtime and dinnertime cruises lasting 1:45-2:30 hours in duration (41-205 Euros). Your choice of which company may depend on where you want to depart.

Bateaux Mouches -leaves from Pont d’Alma
Bateaux Parisiens -leaves from Port de la Bordonnais (by the Eiffel Tower)
Vedettes du Pont Neuf -leaves from Square du Vert Galant on Ile de la Cité

Batobus provides unlimited travelling on the boat for a specified period of time (ie. 1 day, 2 consecutive days, or unlimited use for a year). The cost ranges from 17-60 Euros and allows you to get on and off, much like the “hop on, hop off buses”. The Batobus stops at 9 locations along the Seine.
